Here We Come to Portugal
Arrival & land-scouting energy.
Open earlier short-film file ↗Music, making and the land
Songs for reading the landscape, growing food, making things and finding a rhythm together. The complete public project catalogue sits here beside three new lyrics written for a British countryside story.
The older collection grew around a Portugal concept. We keep its identity and context while letting the UK story develop at the pace of a real place.
An imagined UK direction: a silent film using AI-generated concepts, rather than footage of a property we own.
New writing · no new recordings
Warm acoustic folk, room between phrases and a story that starts with searching, asking and observing. These are full lyric drafts. There are no new released audio masters for these versions.
Suggested arrangement: 78 BPM · fingerstyle guitar, gentle double bass and subtle percussion.
Before the gate is ours to open,
Before the first seed meets the rain,
We’ll ask the ground its quiet questions,
And learn the names along the lane.
A little care, a little patience,
A place to grow, a place to be.
We’ll let the seasons shape the story,
And leave some room for what we see.
We’ll bring a notebook to the doorway,
Hear what the years have left behind.
An orchard drawn upon a page,
A home we have yet to find.
Some days a question is the answer,
Some paths are better left alone.
We’ll keep the promise small and honest,
Until the land can feel like home.
A little care, a little patience,
A place to grow, a place to be.
We’ll let the seasons shape the story,
And leave some room for what we see.
Suggested arrangement: 88 BPM · mandolin, soft guitar and brushed rhythm.
A pencilled bed, a patch of sunlight,
A question written after rain.
We’ll watch the shadows cross the garden,
And start with what we can maintain.
Through the seasons, slow and steady,
Leave a little room to learn.
Some things grow before we notice,
Some will ask us to return.
We might plant a tree for later,
We might change the lines we drew.
Keep a record of the weather,
Let the next small step be new.
There is room for an imperfect morning,
For a seed that never shows.
There is something in the looking,
Long before the garden grows.
Through the seasons, slow and steady,
Leave a little room to learn.
Some things grow before we notice,
Some will ask us to return.
Suggested arrangement: 96 BPM · acoustic guitar, claps and warm bass.
An empty page, a worn old table,
A thought that hasn’t found its way.
We’ll look at what is worth repairing,
And give the useful things a day.
Another useful day,
One small thing made clear.
A little less to throw away,
A little more to care for here.
We’ll measure twice before the morning,
And ask for help where skill is due.
Some things will need a different ending,
Some might hold a purpose new.
There’s no prize for rushing further,
No story lost by taking time.
We’ll keep the craft beside the questions,
And let good work become the rhyme.
Another useful day,
One small thing made clear.
A little less to throw away,
A little more to care for here.
The complete project register · 68 records
Songs, alternate versions, short edits and unfinished ideas are all represented. They are catalogue records, not 68 separate finished compositions. The 17 tracks already described on the old website are included in the same list; 23 records have an existing source link.
“Uploaded”, “draft” and other production labels below describe the source register. They do not verify that a recording is currently public. Portugal planning references, planting calendars, construction recipes, prices and sprint promises in older descriptions or lyrics are historical context, rather than present UK guidance. Private personal material is excluded.
