LUSITANO RETREAT — Rope quoits Ring-toss family with British and Australian traditions; this is a retreat garden adaptation. Players: 2 or more individual players CHOSEN VERSION: Local beginner single-peg rope-ring rules; not Australian six-quoit competition, iron quoits or numbered multi-peg scoring. EQUIPMENT 1. Five soft rope rings per player 2. Stable purpose-made peg target and score sheet SETUP 1. Place a single rounded peg on level ground with a clear landing zone. 2. Agree one shared throwing line and three rounds; choose a reachable distance for the group rather than claiming a regulation distance. HOW TO PLAY 1. Draw the order of players; each takes five underarm throws before the next player. 2. Stay behind the line. No one retrieves until all five rings have stopped and the score is recorded. 3. A ring fully surrounding the peg after settling is a ringer; leaning or touching without surrounding does not score. 4. Retrieve together on the host’s signal and repeat the same order for three rounds. SCORING 1. Retreat scoring: one point per ringer; misses and foot-over-line throws score zero. 2. Do not count proximity points or stack bonuses. A ring displaced by a later throw is judged only in its final position. 3. Add all three rounds. For tied leaders, play another complete five-ring round; repeat until separated. WINNING: Highest total after three rounds, with equal-round tie-breaks. AT THE RETREAT Soft rings only for this shared guest station; no metal-ring substitution. Reclaimed wood can form a storage box or sign, but the target must be stable and free of sharp edges.
