LUSITANO RETREAT — P23 BUILD NOTES Use only with the main pallet guide and material intake checks. Illustrative dimensions are not a structural rating. MEASUREMENTS 1. Illustrative outside footprint: 300 × 180 mm, wall height 80 mm. 2. For side thickness t: long sides 300 mm; end pieces 180 − 2t mm; measure actual packets before adopting this example. CUT LIST / COMPONENTS 1. Two long sides, two fitted ends and one clean base cut to assembled outside footprint. 2. Removable card dividers sized to the internal width and packet height. TOOLS 1. Tape measure, pencil and square; clamps and a stable cutting support 2. Metal detector, suitable saw and drill with timber bits; dust extraction and PPE appropriate to the operation 3. Sanding block, straightedge and the selected connection manufacturer’s installation tools ASSEMBLY 1. Measure the largest sealed seed packets and choose the internal box size around them. If using the illustrative 300 × 180 mm footprint, calculate end length from the actual long-side thickness before cutting. 2. Mark paired side pieces and end pieces on dry accepted offcuts. Keep corners in sound timber, cut to the drawing and label the matching parts so their joint arrangement remains clear. 3. Dry-fit the ends between the long sides on a flat bench. Compare both diagonals and insert representative packets to confirm readable labels and enough room to remove them without bending. 4. Clamp the corners and mark pilot holes clear of old nail holes and split ends. Select screws for the actual corner arrangement, then pre-drill and fasten without leaving tips inside the packet space. 5. Measure the assembled footprint before cutting the clean base panel. Smooth its edges and attach it beneath the walls using connections chosen for the actual material thickness, checking the underside for protrusions. 6. Sand the rim and inside faces until a cloth passes without snagging. Keep finishes fully cured and the timber dry before placing sealed packets in the box; retain their original packaging. 7. Cut removable card dividers to the measured interior and label them by sowing month or crop. Arrange packets upright without packing them tightly, and keep dates and variety information visible. 8. Place the sorter indoors on a dry shelf away from soil and watering equipment. Check periodically for damp, insects and expired packet dates; this organiser provides no controlled humidity or seed-storage guarantee. FINISH AND CARE 1. Sand hand-contact surfaces and ease exposed edges; retain readable batch identification on a concealed face. 2. Use a finish selected for the actual exposure, following its preparation, coat and cure instructions; treat cut ends as specified. COMPLETION CHECKS 1. Packets can be removed intact; base and corners have no exposed tips. 2. Dry indoor organiser only; not a moisture-controlled store.
